DC-Logistics Reports
Beginning with the March, 2006 District Board Meeting, District Chief Reports will be available as PDF files. This prevents a duplication of effort on the part of the CS Staff in presenting the reports. To: DCO Charles Sferra Via: VCO Thomas Venezio District Report 0106 The Department of Logistics encompasses IS,CS, PB,PS and MA. This department is now a mirror of the USCG in the newly formed Sector alignments represented in the First Southern Region. District Staff Officer - Information Services - COMO Arthur Reichling. DSO-IS ,will present a two day course at the United States Coast Guard academy at the District meeting in Mystic, March 06. The IS department will also have a 1 hour session at the Marriot for Members looking to enter the IS field. District Staff Officer-Communication Services- Larry West DSO-CS will be updating the 1 SR website in January 06. Look for new and exciting changes. Easier navigation, and links to support our membership and its missions. DSO-CS will have two sessions at the conference in March. DSO-CS will also be doing “road shows” for the SO/FSO’s in the field. All Departments should send new information updates, and photos. All requests for updates will be handled ASAP, in the Order they were received. District Staff Officer-Publications -Michelle Venezio DSO-PB will work closely with PS,PA, MT to secure stories of interest from the deck plate (flotillas) where the hard work of the members need to be recognized. Our missions alone protect the citizens of the United States, and separate us from the other boating clubs and organizations. PB will focus on getting the word out to our membership, and the public of the value added we bring to our local communities. District Staff Officer-Personnel Services-Joseph O’Leary DSO-PS will hold two sessions at the conference, focusing on The “April OPEN ENROLLMENT MEMBERSHIP DRIVE” DSO-PS will also focus on getting “Back to the Basics” in recruitment & retention. The “Toolkit” has already been sent out to all, and is on the National P website. It will be on the 1SR site shortly. The October Membership Drive was a success, thanks to the hard work of everyone. The national average reached net 13% gain. First Southern reached a 20 % gain…Bravo Zulu to all. Retention is a key factor; look for new 1SR programs and PS road shows.
