DSO-IS
Report
UNITED STATES COAST GUARD
AUXILIARY COMMO. ARTHUR P. REICHLING
TO: DISTRICT BOARD FROM: DSO-IS 1. Shortly after this report is published Auxmis will come to an end and auxdata will replace it. To be more precise the transition date will be March 15th. Auxmis will shut down on the 14th of March, the data will be migrated to Auxdata and we will be up and running with the new system. All of the SO-IS's have been instructed on the new system and hopefully they have been practicing on the training database that has been available to them. All members that have a User ID and Password now, will have access to Auxdata when it comes on line. If there any FSO-IS's that do not have a password and can access the system can apply for a User ID and Password. Send me an Email after March 15th to http://artreich@westnet.com or http://AReichling@BatteryNY.uscg.mil or both. 2. Inputting data into Auxdata is extremely important and the need for a Division SO-IS backup is just as important. If your Division does not have a back up, please get together with your present SO-IS and consider appointing some one. It's nice to know that should your SO-IS go on vacation, become sick or just plain wants to move on, you will have some one that knows the system. 3. Auxinfo is here and it's here for your use. For years I have heard Division Staff Officers and Division Captain ask for this report and that report and who was qualified as a VE, IT, Boat Crew and a dozen other questions. How many VSC or Marine Dealer Visits did my Division or Flotilla do? All of these questions can be answered with Auxinfo. I would like to as many of you at either my morning or afternoon session on Saturday March 2nd. 4. I am still available to come to your Division Meeting to talk about Auxinfo or Auxdata. All I need is an invitation and the use of a telephone. Cc: SO-IS (All) by Email UNITED STATES COAST GUARD

A major change to the Vessel Examination program has some Fsos & Sos IS a little confused. Believe me there should be no confusion as the only changes from the standpoint of the IS officer is a change in what the reporting form looks like. It still asks for the same information: name, number, examinations given and examinations passed. The copy of the new form can be obtained on the National web site. The VSC Form 204 is a multi-part form. The bottom copy is given to the boat owner and the top copy, without a name and registration number is given to the SO-IS who will mail them to Peter Urgola, N-VSC, 146 Collamer Road, Hilton, NY 214468. 2. Please insure that all members who are involved with OP-SAIL report their hours in a timely manner using the proper category. This will be important so that the Coast Guard will be able to tally all of the hours especially those that are part of the outlying activities. 3. Just a reminder to all of the members who have access to Auxmis that if you dont use it you may lose it If you havent been into Auxmis you wont know when there is a password change and when you finally want to use it, you cant access it. 4. If you are having trouble working in Auxmis, please let me know and we will try to solve your problem
