Subj.: Report to the District Board 15 Jan 2005

1) The reports from the DCPs of Division 7,22,24 & 25 and mine have been submitted electronically.

2) Div 7 remains operationally active throughout the winter months, supporting the needs of the Coast Guard and the Connecticut DEP. Additional they have been integrated with Division 22 in the training / preparation to augment and replace the active duty personnel at Station Eatons Neck, in the event of an emergency such as the events of 911.

I’d like to acknowledge DCP Lovas in the way she has assumed her
duties, and I enjoy working with her. IPDCP Ed Petrie also performed his
duties with exemplary style, and remains active in a new District staff
position, and as always – standing the watch at Boston Light. BZ Ed.

3) Division 22 has increased member activity hours to 41,360 hours, up 50 % from 2003, a 13,729 hour increase, BZ Div 22. This activity is in all programs!
As the Division’s activity has increased, their greatest accomplishment
has been their development, with the cooperation of Station Eatons Neck,
a program not only to backfill at the Station, but to replace the Active Duty
in the event of an emergency.

4) Division 24 proudly performs in all Auxiliary programs. They have been the leader in WINTER OPS on Long Island Sound.
DCP Haines will be assisted by newly elected VCP Nick Sidorick; Nick is also remaining in his SO/OP position.
Division 24 has also had an acknowledgeable increase in member participation.

5) Division 25 has also experience a change of leadership. Dale Clayton, while VCP took over the SO/OP position mid year in 2004, and was instrumental in the successfully organization and execution of the Tall Ship 2004 event in New London, CT.

Bruce Tobiasson, who lives in the suburbs of Boston, and that’s in the 1NR, is Division 25’s new VCP. Bruce boats on the LIS and has been a stand up member of Div. 25 for a while now. I have and look forward to working with these leaders, especially with the planned TOPOFF 3 exercise scheduled for 3 April thru 7 April 2005.

6) TOP0FF 3 is a Congressionally mandate DHS training exercise. It will happen starting 3 April 2005 in New London Harbor, and “ THE COAST GUARD WILL LOOK GOOD”
As the RCO of the AOR, I have been privileged as a member of the Coast Guard Steering Committee for this exercise. Admiral Pekoske has directed those involved in the planning “that the CGAUX will be part of the active team”. In addition to myself, I have asked PRCO Ron Willson to serve on the planning team representing the CGA at that level.

At this time I am delivering an invitation to all Auxiliarist who are willing to participate to advise their RCO who in turn will contact me with a list. Next week I will have a detailed list of needed resources, they will include surface facilities, air facilities, and personnel shore side for a mired of duties. I MUST submit a list of our resources at a 14 Feb meeting in Boston, I will need the information no later than 10 Feb 2005.Members should consider making themselves available for 2 to 7 days, vacation time may need.

Discussion….not in print.

7) In conclusion, 2005 is expected to be a fun, active and fulfilling year.

Subject: RCO REPORT

This being my last report to the board, I would like to say it has been a pleasure serving with the current EXCOM. It has also been my great pleasure to have 4 devoted Captains without whose help I could not have gotten though this year. Sometimes life challenges us, it has me. The choice not to seek a second term was mine and it is the right choice at this time.
Over the last week I have talk with different station liaisons in the Group. They are pleased with the work and help we have provided them so far this year and want it to continue. I have heard only good things about our members who work at the different stations. These members step up to whatever the task might be, learn it and then do it freeing up active duty personnel for other duties. This lets our active counter parts train and do their jobs better. It is a win, win situation that benefits all, keep up the good work.

All Division report operations in full swing, they have had boats on the water every weekend and some weekdays.

Flotillas throughout the area are setting up for their September BS&S Classes.

Many Flotillas have shown growth this year. That growth has caused more activity in those flotillas, especially in the operations training areas.
