Communications: Our thanks to Steve Haney for his informative reports and articles as it relates to radios and other forms of communications. Computer Services: Jay Gellman continues to amaze us with his continued upgrading to the Division’s Website. Division 11 is especially proud of its photo gallery reflecting our members and their participation in various public affair events throughout the year. Information Services: Division 11 thanks all the IS Officers (Victor Kleinman, John Brancato and Harold Finke) for their diligent and tireless efforts in entering the hours of our members. We especially appreciate Jay Gellman as Division IS Officer, who provides guidance and assistance to the Flotilla IS Officers. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members who faithfully keep track of their hours and submit them on a timely basis to the IS Officers. Materials: Our thanks to John Salogub for his diligent efforts in supplying materials for the Division. Member Training: Division 11 continues to strive to keep our members trained and qualified to assist the Coast Guard whenever and wherever possible. We would also like to congratulate Victor Kleinman on his re-appointment as ADSO-MT! Marine Safety: Division 11 would like to thank George Sottilo for his efforts in keeping the Flotilla Marine Safety Officers informed. Operations: Our thanks to Stanley Kaye for his attentive efforts for coordinating the operations of our facilities. Our thanks to all the coxswains of Division 11 who made themselves available for patrols. In October we were honored to participate in the Coast Guard’s Use of Force Demonstration. Personnel Services: We are proud to announce that Flotilla 11-11 was chartered on December 7, 2005. Our sincere thanks to Commander Young, DCO Charles Sferra and RCO Frank Ferrauiolo for commemorating this event. Public Affairs: Our thanks to Jay Gellman for his diligent efforts in keeping the Auxiliary in the public’s eye. Division 11 participated in several public affair events at Asser Levy Park, Gateway Marina, Nature Center and Venice Marina. We wish to make special note of Joseph Stern’s trip to Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC. Joe, along with Tom Venezio, Gail Venezio and Manny Padilla participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Public Education: Our thanks to Ginger Kaye for her meticulous efforts in coordinating classes and disseminating information to our members, as well as to the boating public. Flotilla 11-09 was given the go ahead by BoatUS to print the Boating Fun books, which will be used to educate children on water safety. Secretary: The Division appreciates the efforts of our Secretary, Victor Kleinman, for the monthly compilation of staff reports and his work for the Division. Division 11 had its Change of Watch on February 12 and would like to thank Commander Felker, Captain Wiltshire, Chief Joffe, VCO Tom Venezio, RCO Gail Venezio, RCO Frank Ferraiuolo and Stewart Sutherland of the Lady B for being in attendance to help us celebrate our achievements in 2004 and for the encouragement to our membership for 2005. Captain Joseph Stern accepted on behalf of Division 11 the Auxiliary Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon for performance of duty from January 2004 to December 2004. I would also like to thank the Change of Watch Committee for their time and effort to making the Change of Watch a success! We are currently working on our Emergency Response Plan for the Division and Flotillas. We anticipate finalization by the end of March. I would like to thank my staff officers for their continued support to myself, the Vice Captain and Division 11. Member Training: We currently have 12 members in crew training. I would like to thank Victor Kleinman, SO-MT, and all the mentors, Jay Gellman, Ginger Kaye, Stanley Kaye, Lennart Gidlund, and John Salogub, who dedicate each Wednesday night to this effort. Public Affairs: A special thanks to Jay Gellman for his efforts in getting a grant from BoatUS. Jay plans on using the funds to make children’s boating safety books. Public Education: Flotillas 11-02 and 11-03 are currently giving Boating Safety and Seamanship Classes. Seven of our members (Harold Finke, Jay Gellman, Ginger Kaye, Stanley Kaye, Victor Kleinman, Patricia Matonti and myself) started off the New Year by participating in the 2005 NYC Boat Show at the Javits Center. We would like to thank RCO Gail Venezio for coordinating this event. We would like to thank VCO Tom Venezio for his visit and a photo op with the members, as well as Fred Taylor, Port Security, and Meredith Schoen, Marine Safety Technician, from Activities New York. We are currently working on our Emergency Response Plan for the Division and Flotillas. We have called a special meeting for January 19, discuss and finalize our plans for submission to District. We have finalized our Standing Rules and will forward the signed original copies to our RCO for further approval. We are focusing our energies on forming a new flotilla in our Division. We currently have 11 new enrollees, 4 members in AP status and 5 additional applications to be submitted later in February. We will work with our RCO and the ADSO-PS for guidance in setting up the new flotilla. I would like to thank my staff officers for their sustained commitment to the Division, as well as those members who continually strive for the betterment of the Auxiliary. Division 11 Report for September 11, 2004 District Meeting Division 11 actively participated in the Republican National Convention activity with various patrols around NYC to support the Coast Guard during this busy week. Career Counselor: Preparations are underway for high school visits to obtain AIM Career Candidates thanks to the continued efforts of Donald Palmieri, SO-CC. Division 11 has one candidate eligible for the Academy. Communications: Thanks to Salvatore Baglieri for his work with MDA patrols and Watch Standing, as well as lectures on communications at our member training meetings. Computer Services: Division 11 continues to improve its Website (http://uscgaux.org/~01411) through the diligent efforts of Jay Gellman. Finance: Division 11 welcomes its new finance officer, Harold Finke, to the position. Information Services: Thanks to Jay Gellman for his tireless efforts in entering information into Auxdata, as well as working closely with Bill Tooker to resolve any issues that may arise. We would also like to thank Jay in assisting the Flotilla IS Officers. Materials: Thanks to Joe DeAngelo for his efforts in keeping our Division officers in supplies. Member Training: Thanks to the efforts of Stanley Kaye for assisting both Crew and Coxswains through the mentoring program, as well as with the cooperation of our facility boat owners to complete sign offs. We added two new boat crew members: Congratulations to Jay Gellman and Merle Robinson! Marine Safety: Division 11 would like to thank John DeVito for his efforts in keeping the Flotilla Marine Safety Officers informed. John has also signed up for the Coast Guard Reserves and we wish him the best of luck in his new undertaking. John will continue to remain our Marine Safety Officer and the Division will support him in his new endeavor. Operations: It is with sadness in our hearts that we mourn the passing of our Operations Officer, Wesley E. Doody. Wes was a devoted husband and father, as well as a dedicated Auxiliarist. His contributions to the Auxiliary and Division 11 will never be forgotten. The Division is grateful to Stanley Kaye for accepting the position as Operations Officer. Stanley will educate our Coxswains on new policies and procedures including POMS. Personnel Services: We approximate that 75% of our membership have submitted their Personnel Security Questionnaire, SF85, 1-2004 SAC forms and fingerprint cards to Diraux. Our Flotilla Commanders continue to reach out to those members who wish to remain active. Congratulations to Pat Matonti for being appointed ADSO-PS for Group Moriches. Program Visitor: Manny Padilla continues to do an excellent job coordinating the Program Visitor within our Division. To date we have completed 148 Recreational Boating Safety Visits. Public Affairs: Division 11 participated in two events at the New York Aquarium in July and August, as well on National Marina Day with two of our local marinas. In September we visited the Salt Marsh Nature Center in Brooklyn, where we demonstrated to the children a class on Boating Fun.. A special thanks to Jay Gellman for coordinating these events. Ray Pagano coordinated the Blessing of the Fleet in May with a BBQ at the Midget Squadron Yacht Club. Public Education: Flotilla 11-02 gave three BS&S classes, Flotilla 11-03 gave one BS&S class and one BCN class, and Flotilla 11-09 gave one BS&S class. The Division is planning on giving an ABC class in October and a special thanks to Ginger Kaye for her efforts in coordinating the class. A special mention to Sal Piparo for participating as an instructor for a Small Boat Handling Course for Law Enforcement at the request of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PAPD) at Kennedy Airport. Vessel Examiners: The total to date is 246 completed Vessel Safety Checks and thanks to Mikhail Roitman for his efforts in coordinating these reports. Division 11 Report for June 19, 2004 District Meeting submitted by Joseph Stern & Tom Matonti: Division 11, with four flotillas, was well attended for Fleet Week at the Intrepid and for the Blessing of the Fleet at the Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn. A barbecue was hosted by the Midget Squadron Yacht Club for our boat patrol crews, who participated in the Blessing. We also had members on board the Lady B to assist the Navy’s Blue Angels by serving as the center spot boat for the flight team - what a great show! A significant accomplishment was made by VFC and Coxswain Stanley Kaye, who after intensive training, received his Coast Guard Cuttermans Pin from the Coast Guard Cutter Line. Stanley is also participating in the International Search and Research competition in Tarrytown New York. Congratulations to Stanley for his dedication and tireless efforts in assisting the Coast Guard, as well as the Auxiliary! Recreational Boating Safety Visits: Thanks to the joint efforts of Manny Padilla, Victor Kleinman, Jay Gellman and Tom Matonti we have increased the number of completed RBSs to date. Operations: Special thanks to Wes E. Doody and Wesley L. Doody for giving an informative and lively Operations Workshop to educate our Crewmembers and Coxswains on the new policy and procedures. Public Affairs: We are planning to attend the Cape May Graduation on June 25 and the New York Aquarium in July, with Joe Stern and Ray Pagano coordinating these events. · For the year ending 2003 our Division added 11 new members, bringing the total to 182 members within the four Flotillas. For this effort we are putting in for the NACO Growth Award. · We had several PE/BS&S classes leading to crew mentoring producing four new crew members for our Division in 2003. · Several members took and passed the Auxweather course, with much thanks to our instructor Wesley L. Doody. · We also have two new MDVs available to accompany our two Radio Auxcoms for vehicle waterfront patrols. · There are now two members who participate in the Aviation program, one as an observer and the other as an observer trainee for MDA and Ice patrols. · Our Webmaster Jay Gellman CS created a new website for the Division and is located at: http://www.uscgaux.org/~01411/ · The leadership training at Mystic was well attended by our Division elected and appointed IS officers. · Our Change of Watch will be on 2/21/04 at the Bay Ridge Manor at 476-76th street, between 4th and 5th Ave. at 7:00 PM. We are planning to make it better than last years party. · Division 11 also attended the Grand Opening of the new Coast Guard Recruitment Center at 7806 Flatlands Ave. at E 78th St. The hope is to draw students from the nearby South Shore High School and others to join. Our Division has pictures of the event on our website. · We have also provided support to Activities and Station New York. · The boat show was well attended by at least seven members from the Division on the opening day 12/27/03. We joined our RCO Steve Ackerman in greeting the public with boating information as they were buying their dream boats. · Three members have been put in for a CG Award for their efforts within our Division, for PA, MT and CS/IS. Joseph Stern, Stanley Kakawyczk, and Jay Gellman. · One member Stanley Kakawyczk has been going for training with the Coast Guard to become an Underway Deck Officer on the CGC Line. · We thank those who attended the services for our

1. Most of our Flotilla`s are currently holding PE classes we are expecting new members from these classes. 2. Flotilla 11-02 will be setting up a permanant Boating Saftey booth at the NY Aquarium starting the end of next month thanks to Joseph Stern SO-PA 11. 3. Our members are preparing for an early operations season this year. They have been asked to try and be ready if the need arises. Our SO-OP is holding the mandatory workshop for operations on the 6 March 2002. 4. The VE decals have been received and distribution has started by the FSO-VE. 5. Our change of watch was a success, all who attended had a good time,our guests were L. Sheldon RCO ACTNY S. from USCG Cmdr. McAllister ACTNY Surface Forces, USCG Lt. Villaverde Sta. NY, BMC Joffe ACTNY. The DCP award was presented to Richard Kohlbrecher SO-IS and VCP award was presented to Wesley E. Doody SO-OP/PRCO. 6. We mourn the passing of a long time member Herbert Glaser PDCP who recently sailed to the heavens. 7. At N-Train in St.Louis Wesley L. Doody Deputy Department Chief DC-Td was a presented with a letter of commendation for his work in member training. 8. Many of our members are serving a local CG Stations performing various activities. 9. Coxswain and crew mentors have been appointed by the FC. 10. Our dues have been sent to District. 11. Looking forward to District Conference at Tarrytown we expect many of our members to attend.

DCP Report At our Division board meeting in December CWO J. Bradbury awarded and pinned Stanley Kakawczyk and Jon Bataze of Flotilla 11-03 with their Coxswain pins, in attendance was QE Ed. Goodell who was instrumental in their training. CWO Bradbury also presented to Charles W. Koenecke PDCP and member of Flotilla 11-03 with a sixty year plague for his service in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Charlie is still active as an instructor and member. Our Decals for VE have been ordered and we are prepared for the coming season we have several new VE`s. Our Flotilll`s have scheduled their PE classes and are prepared to start this month. Our Division Change of Watch is the 26 January at the Bayridge Manor in Brooklyn. Boat Crew training is on-going. We have many members who are assisting at Coast Guard Stations and Operation Patriot. Several of our elected officers including myself attended the Leadership Academy at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. Our Staff officers our preparing their programs for this year.
