Plans are underway for OPCOM, elections are complete, Division Staff in place except for two positions (in work), meetings for Bridge to visit each and every flotilla frequently to listen, learn and share ideas how to improve. Informal (no uniform, etc.) meeting set for Bridge to meeting with all FC’s, VFC’s and Past Division Captains to share information and form up plans for the year 2006. This involves continued effort to meet and share information with neighboring Divisions. From: Paul D. Steinberg, DCP 1 Subject: Captain’s Report for month of February 2005 Division one continues to be active on all fronts. Particular emphasis is focused on several key items to assure that all members are well trained, mentors in each flotilla especially regarding staff officers are helping develop backups in the event a substitute or replacement is needed and those men and women are trained, willing and ready to serve at a moments notice. Winter Operations has resumed now that the ice has diminished for the moment. Our VDCP Jim Heitz has set up a workable method to inventory and maintain all pertinent equipment with specific ID for each article and a controlled sign out procedure. Assurance that all equipment to be used and inspected including personally owned is a vital adjunct to the program as well. Our RCOM Dick Mullare is spearheading a long talked about but not totally enacted means to share knowledge, skills, contact information between neighboring divisions, in our case Division 1, 13 and 18. Representatives form each division including Captains, key staff officers such as Operations, Member training and Communications work together as a team. In each division the flotillas share information, ideas and interchange personnel to become more familiar with the workings of each unit. This helps us to be fully prepared to respond to any emergency efficiently with trained personnel without the limitation of divisions boundaries should the need arise. Included is an effective way to communicate between the air arm Flt 1-6 surface and land vehicles without compromising any and all information deemed classified. IPFC Per Stauffer, 1-6, has been instrumental in this area. Important benefits also gleaned from the program already have fostered friendship and mutual respect as opposed to a territorial attitude, which tends to be counter productive at times. SAREX is on top of the agenda and meetings continue to take place to create meaningful trainings exercises working closely with our brothers and sisters at FICG station. The Emergency Response plan has been updated and fine tuned and our SO/COM officer, Gordon Sammis is in the final stages of developing an updated emergency call out list. The New London conference is just around the corner and Division One again expects to have a solid turnout. Division One has its first scheduled meeting set for Monday, January
31, 2005 commencing at 1930 at FICG Station. Prior to and in preparation
thereof the following activities are on-going:
