Division 24 Report
Beginning with the March, 2006 District Board Meeting, Division Captain Reports will be available as PDF files.
This prevents a duplication of effort on the part of the CS Staff in presenting the reports. To, COMO Sferra VCO Venezio RCO Petrie Subject: Div-24 Report 14 JAN 06 Division 24 is lucky to have a wonderful group of people so committed to the mission. I am glad to have many veteran staff staying in their positions with some new members joining the Division staff. This gives us a stable base to work from with new ideas keeping us fresh and enthusiastic to keep moving forward toward our goal. Bob Gesullo VCP and I are making Division 24’s goal this year to bring our MDA program up to the same level of excellence as our on water Ops. We feel MDA is a mission we can not fail. We would like to instill a sense of ownership toward this program through out our Division. Speaking with Capt. Boynton I have assured him we will use all resources of Div-24 to make this realality Our Winter Ops program is and has been underway with two boats this year and an aggressive patrol schedule. Along with the MDA patrols we do in Bridgeport and New Haven Harbors, Northville platform and shadowing the B-Port ferry across to PJ. We are doing many two boat drills with Station Vessels day and night ops, helping them to get new crew and Coxs qualified. Division 24 now has a quarterly news letter. I felt there was a need for a quality news letter to get the information out to every member not just the ones who came to a Division meeting. Yes Commanders bring back to their Flotilla’s pert net information that is needed, but there is so much more to know about the Division. The “BOAT BASIN” it is called for now features Flotilla’s and there history. Bio’s on Members, A section for Station New Haven to put in any safety information or patrol needs. Plus the forth corner stone, pictures of picnics or parties and much more. It can be found on Division 24 web site. Talking with our SO-MT we have about 35 members training for either Coxs or Crew and two TCT training dates in the near future. Also SO-VE assures me to get at least 10% more examiners this year. I am looking forward to this year. With the support from Division 24 membership we will not fail in any of our missions. Nick Sidorick DCP 24

Thanks and congratulations to all Div. 24 members for their unselfish support and response. Ron Dejewski DCP-24
DCP 24 REPORT 1. The summer boating season was very busy for Div. 24. The Division provided 24/7 coverage to Station New Haven during the course of OPSAIL 2000 & OPSAIL CT. An AUXFAC & full crew were assigned to the Station for the entire time frame thus allowing the Station's resources to be deployed in direct support of the activities in New York & New London. 2. Other Division personel & facilities participated on scene both in New York & New London. 3. The week after OPSAIL CT concluded Division resources were busy on the water again participating in the welcome of the freedom schooner AMISTAD to it's home port of New Haven. Eight AUXFACS took part in this event which was made all the more challenging due to gale force winds & heavy seas. 4. The Divisions SO-PE was instrumental in securing an agreement with the State Of CT. Dept. Of Environmental Protection (DEP) which resulted in 25 Auxiliary instrutors being trained and certified by the State to teach the Personal Watercraft (PWC) course of instruction required for Ct. Certifiicates of Operation. Our instructors can now teach the PWC course along with our PE courses (previously students had to look outside of the Aux for PWC instruction.) 5. A succesful SAR mission carried out by AUXFAC 313073 from Flotilla 24-3 resulted in locating a pleasure boat & it's occupants which had been adrift and missing for over 24 hours. This mission was featured in a popular boating magazine. 6. PE courses & MT courses are in full swing. The Division sponsors MT in all seven specialty courses on a rotating basis. Currently in progress is the AUXMIN course which is being offered in order to facilitate qualification for elected office. 7. Upcoming dates of interest are: Division Election, Oct. 4, 2000.
