Don Lloyd, DCP DATE: 27 February 2005 1. The Division COW was held 16 January at the Larchmont Yacht Club. 2. Division 06 participated in the “Metro Boat Show Expo” at The Westchester County Center February 11th, 12th and 13th by manning an information booth, as well as giving three (3) courses. Two (2) GPS courses and an American’s Boating Course were given to the show attendees. As a result of this pilot boat course program we secured two (2) new members. 3. On Shore Boat Crew Training is being held every Thursday at the Washington Irvington Boat Club. There are ten (10) Boat Crew candidates in attendance. 4. Sadly, we report the recent passing of two ( 2) members: Ted Kamp and Alex Mastromarino. 5. Two (2) new SO’s have been appointed: 6. The following dates have been fixed for the following Workshops: 7. Since 15 January there are six new member designates awaiting security approval. 8. Flotillas are offering BS&S, America’s Boating Course and GPS courses. 9. Present Division 06 membership is 120. We are beginning an intensive new membership and retention program within the Division. End of Report DATE: 08 January 2005 1. The “Muscular Dystrophy Association” Swim Across The Hudson was again escorted by Division 06 facilities and personnel. K. Lustyik and J. Watson did an excellent organizational and operational job on this event. 2. This past boating season Division 06 certified four new Boat Crew: J. Foster (06-07) F. Veit (06-07. S. Horvitz (06-03) and J. Watson (06-05). 3. Division 06 participated in the recent New York Boat Show. 4. As of 31 December 2004 Division 6 expects to disenroll ten to fifteen members due to non-filing of PSQ Questionnaires. 5. The Division COW will be held 16 January at the Larchmont Yacht Club 6. DC3 Nathan Bruckenthal 1997-2004 In DC3 Bruckenthal’s memory Division 06 has purchased and will install a brick in front of the Coast Guard Monument and Flag at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park. This Memorial Park was dedicated on August 02, 1997 to veterans, and on that day the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 06 Honor Guard was at attention. 7. Division 06 Captain Stephen C. Schmidt 1. February Division 06 meeting was well-attended, with all Flotilla Commanders in attendance, of which Flotilla 064, Verplanck, was host. 2. Reports from several Flotillas concerned about receiving supplies of envelopes, stamps, stationary - distribution slow. 3. Division publication - asking and gathering samples and information for a Division 06 publication every other month. 4. Patriot Readiness continues to move forward through the Information Systems Staff Officer or directly into the system through e-mail. 5. Information Systems Staff Officer reports 90% of forms returned ask for a first-aid-CPR course, which has been set up for over the winter start-up, along with an Aux/Com, Aux/Wea and another instructor course. Plans are underway to hold a VE and MDV qualifications course after the March 2002 conference. 6. Division 06 will host a boat show booth, with help from Division 07, at the Danbury Mall, Danbury, Ct., 7 through 10 March 2002. 7. Division Staff Officer Public Education reports all Flotillas have BS&S courses set for early spring through early summer 2002. 8. Chief of Staff was to have a Staff Officers' meeting on 9 March 2002 at the Tarrytown Firemen's Training Center, but has been postponed until 17 March 2002 because of illness. 9. Various Flotillas report a total of 10 new members in Division 06, with another four being interviewed. 10. On 7 February 2002, a swim test was held at the Marymount College swimming pool with 11 new members being signed off by 2 Qualification Examiners. 11. All Flotilla Commanders report that Crewmen/Coxswain mentors have been appointed for 2002. 12. Division 06 Communication Staff Officer reports that all land and mobile radios inspection renewals have been accomplished and that approval has been sent back to DCP with paperwork and decals. 13. Members of Division 06 continue to provide support at the Director of Auxiliary office.

Division 06 Captain Stephen C. Schmidt 1. The January Division meeting was well-attended; all Flotilla Commanders were in attendance. Much information was shared and our goals for the year were reviewed. 2. Division 06 personnel participated in the New York National Boat Show in New York City on 07 January 2002. 3. Division 06 Chief of Staff has arranged a meeting with all staff officers to be held toward the end of January 2002. A calling tree is being set up for our Division, along with specialty courses over the winter by the Member Training Officer. 4. Captain, Vice Captain, staff officers, both Division and Flotilla, were sworn in at the well-attended Division 06 Change of Watch held 13 January 2002 at Rudy's Beau Rivage, 19 Livingston Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. 5. Division 06 Commanders were directed to appoint boat Crew, Coxswain mentors for each Flotilla. Several already have applied. 6. Members of Division 06 continue to provide support at the Director of Auxiliary office. 7. Division 06 personnel participated at the Veterans Day parade in New York City, 11 November 2001. 8. Report from Flotilla Commanders that three (3) prospective new members have shown interest in joining the Auxiliary since our Change of Watch 13 January 2002. Stephen C. Schmidt DC-06
September 23, 2000 1. Petitions for nomination as Division Captain have been received from James Dipelesi and for Vice Captain from Steve Schmidt. The elections will be held at the October 10 Meeting . 2. Two 17 year old males drowned at Tellers Point on the Hudson River. The Coast Guard and Auxiliary let the recovery efforts assisted by local police and fire units. While the operation went well, a meeting of the units involved to be to critique and adjust our call out procedures will he convened by Greg Porteus flotilla 67 Public Affairs officer. Greg was on the boat that recovered the body. Bravo Zulus to Greg, Vinny Stafford, Operations Officer Bill Logan, Steve Schmidt, Jim Dipelesi, Mike Coffey (Radio Tarrytown) and all involved. 3. Division 6 was asked to participate in dedication ceremonies announcing the new Westchester county pump out boat. The boat, the first of it's kind in this section of the Hudson River went into service July 29. 4. In support of the three tier recruiting program, Division 6 has 11 new members. Flotillas 65 and 66 has one each, 68 has two and 67 has 7. 5. Flotilla Commander 68 Art Spanner and the Captain met with City of Yonkers, Executive Director Public Affairs and Community relations, Mr. Richard Halvey. As a result the Auxiliary will host a Boating Safety booth at the Annual Yonkers Fair . Arrangements are being made to have the auxiliary do a 30 minute Boating Safety show on Yonkers Local television. On behalf of Division 6, this Captain would like to acknowledge and thank the Executive Committee for all the help and guidance received. Rear Commodore Charles Sferra, Secretary Iris Mordaunt, Vice Commodore Bill Huling were all a big help. Special thanks to Commander Seebald and Commodore Ward for the professional courtesy accorded to this Old Captain and new Auxiliaries Harriet Kraynik. ___________________ |
