Web Programmer for ATON Department On-Line Discrepancy Reporting System

The ATON Department is looking for a web programmer to help take the district’s Bridge Program to a new 21st century level of operation, moving away from paper reports to using the web for direct on-line entry of ATON bridge discrepancies. The candidate needed should have strong experience with web based data entry development, HTML, ASP, SQL and Dreamweaver or Expression Web. Must have strong technical web development sills as well as being a good team player. Help Wanted Sandy Hook Housing

  1. This winter the Coast Guard housing at Sandy Hook suffered some extensive damage from the winter weather. While members were evacuated due to severe storms, power was lost and as a result several pipes froze and burst causing damage to plumbing, electrical and drywall.
  2. Sector NY Facilities Engineering is looking for help to get these facilities back into shape before the summer transfer season and they are requesting our assistance. Members from the local area who are available to work on an as needed basis during the week are requested to reply.
  3. Additionally we are scheduling a blitz weekend where members could arrive Friday evening, 4 May, or Saturday morning 5 May, and work through Sunday 6 May.
  4. Travel and lodging will be funded/provided if needed. Carpenters, plumbers and electricians are requested as well as non-skilled personnel willing to assist.
  5. Members who can assist in any capacity are requested to contact YN2 Ed Matthews at 212-668-7990 or Edwin.Matthews@uscg.mil. Provide your name, trade or skill, when you can assist and if you need lodging (provide the exact dates lodging needed) and if you request travel orders.

AMVER AWARDS OFFICER:

The Coast Guard Amver Office is looking for 1-2 people to assist in organizing Amver awards and preparing awards for international shipment. The work location would be the Amver office which is located on the 2nd floor of the Coast Guard Battery Park Bldg in downtown Manhattan. (Note: there is no elevator in the bldg) Point of Contact is Mr. Benjamin Strong , 212-668-7762.

Amver, sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, is a unique, computer-based, and voluntary global ship reporting system used worldwide by search and rescue authorities to arrange for assistance to persons in distress at sea. With Amver, rescue coordinators can identify participating ships in the area of distress and divert the best-suited ship or ships to respond. Amver's mission is to quickly provide search and rescue authorities, on demand, accurate information on the positions and characteristics of vessels near a reported distress.

Amver awards provide worldwide exposure and serve as an instrument of our nation's foreign policy to express the appreciation of the United States Government to foreign governments and industry officials for the voluntary participation of its ships in this humanitarian program.

DRIVERS WANTED:

Would you like to help the men and women of the Coast Guard, and their families, enjoy NY City and make the most of their liberty time while stationed here in NY? Sector NY is looking for volunteers to drive 15 passenger Liberty Vans on weekends from Fort Wadsworth to the Staten Island Ferry. You can choose to volunteer as often as your schedule allows. Vans operate Fridays from 1600 (4pm) to 0300 (3am), Saturdays 0900 (9am) to 0300, and Sundays as needed/available. The vans will be provided by the station, volunteers must abide by local and Coast Guard regulations and have a valid driver’s license.

WOUNDED WARRIOR WEEKENDS:

Volunteers are needed to assist the Coast Guard with providing transportation for wounded veterans to participate in several running/wheelchair races in NYC : the Hope and Possibility Run, June 24th, a ½ marathon August 5th and the NYC Marathon November 4th. The Coast Guard will be providing 2- 15 passenger vans and are looking for drivers to participate: Thursday 1200- 2000 (12-8pm), Friday 0800-2200 (8am-10pm) and Sat/Sun 0500-1500 (5am-3pm). Each day will be split into 2 shifts, the Coast Guard is looking for 2 drivers for each shift.

WEB PROGRAMMERS & WEBMASTERS:

District Logo

The District CS Department is looking for members proficient in programming for the World Wide Web as we embark on improving the District Website. At a minimum, the applicants should be proficient in HTML, with CSS and be able to “hand-code” the HTML. We are also looking for people proficient in graphic design, site layout, forms, CSI, PHP, MySQL, and web database applications.
