On June 21, 2003 the Bridge and staff for
1SR met at ACTNY for the 3rd Quarterly meeting. This was a special
meeting as it was to be the introduction of our new DIRAUX,
Commander John Felker, and our new OTO CWO Mark Ferera.
It was also the retirement ceremony for CWO Tom Peck not just as our OTO, but from the Coast Guard. CDR Seebald will be retiring from the Coast Guard at a ceremony in Chicago in July, along with his brother and sister, also career Coasties. Prior to the retirement ceremony, and the giving of gifts to CWO Peck, awards were given several Flotilla's. For the Kitty Shannon awards: ACTNY-S Flotilla 2-2; ACTNY-N Flotilla 10-13;GRU-MOR Flotilla 1-3; and GRU-LIS Flotilla 25-3. The Coast Guard Alex Haley Award for Excellence in Journalism was presented to Wayne Spivak.
