We
in the Auxiliary describe ourselves as "America's Volunteer
Lifesavers" It is a justified description. We save lives
not only by assisting the Coast Guard in performing Search &
Rescue (SAR) missions for boaters who find themselves in trouble
on our waterways but also by conducting activities like offering
this boating course to help avoid Search & Rescue missions
from having to be started in the first place. This course is
one of our Preventive SAR efforts. What boaters learn in this
course will assist them to steer clear of dangerous situations
as they enjoy recreational boating to the max.
